QUEER CLIMBING CREW

2SLGBTQIA+ TRAINING GROUP

DETAILS

The goal of the queer climbing crew is to cultivate a positive and inclusive culture to learn and climb in.

The sport of climbing while radically inclusive for some has been outwardly hostile to others, especially members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. That’s why programs such as the queer climbing crew are crucial to building healthy communities within this wonderful sport.

If you’re a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community at any climbing level, come join us! And help keep climbing counter culture 🙂

Coached by experienced climbing instructor Ben Freeman, we will focus on:

Ideal session structure (How to have an intention behind your climbing sessions)
Foundational technique (The basics of climbing technique)
– Foot work
– Body positioning
– Hold types
Movement coaching (Feedback about your movement on the wall)
– How to climb statically and dynamically
– How to climb efficiently on the wall
– Developing your own climbing style
Mental performance (How to think about climbing)
– Fear management
– Sequencing (Route Reading)
– Headspace for sending
Developing your own training routine (Figuring out the best exercises to gain strength and endurance)
Injury prevention (Bouldering safety and exercises to prevent chronic overuse injuries)

The queer climbing crew is a dedicated training group for anyone who identifies under the queer umbrella. All abilities welcome!
